New York City Region

The New York City  Region encompasses five borough: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens, and the Bronx.  Our goal is to increase the number of teachers who pursue national board certification and facilitators in high needs schools.  In order to reach our goals we have support and partnerships with the United Federation of Teachers Teacher Center, CUNY Lehman, the NYC Department of Education, and Fordham University. This year because of additional grant funding, we are offering many cohort groups facilitated by trained Candidate Support Providers.  If anyone is still interested, we invite new candidates to contact us.  We are also excited to collaborate with the UFTTC and NYSUT to host the Writing institute for candidates. Stay tuned for our Awareness Sessions and end of the year celebrations in NYC.

Jes worked with high school ELLs to produce and publish two short story books that sell on amazon.com. Jes currently is an adjunct professor at the College of Mount St Vincent and teaches courses in the graduate TESOL department. In past years, she has facilitated several professional development classes and lectures around the country working with Expeditionary Learning Schools network. The sessions were given in order to assist content teachers with strategies to support ELLs in their classrooms and to make the learning accessible and meaningful to all English Language Learners.

Support near you!

Candidate support groups will help you throughout your certification process. Many cohorts meet once or twice a month to guide and provide feedback on the components. Research shows that people who are part of a study group have a higher rate of achievement. Go to one, go to all!

Candidate support groups for Fall 2021 are TBD.

Please check: https://registration.ufttc.org/ in September for updates.
